Is 6 Weeks Too Late For Newborn Photos In Augusta, Georgia?
As a newborn photographer in Augusta, Georgia, one of the most common questions I get asked is, "If I wait until six weeks, is it too late to take photos of my baby?" The answer is no.
While we might not be able to get the same posed newborn photos, we can still capture lifestyle photos of your baby. In this blog, I'll cover a few reasons why booking a session for your baby after six weeks can still be the perfect time to capture those precious memories of your new baby.
Your Baby Will Be More Active
For starters, you'll find that older babies start to smile more during photoshoots. While having those curled-up sleepy shots of tiny babies is great, capturing those first smiles can make for some truly enamoring moments in photographs. Since six-week-olds are usually much more alert than two-week-old – meaning they actually stay awake for longer periods of time – you could end up with some fantastic photos that show off your baby's personality even better!
Easier To Put Into Different Poses
Furthermore, certain poses will be slightly easier to get with older babies as well. For example, shots from above or from different angles should be much easier once the baby reaches six weeks rather than trying to get them into a certain position at two or three weeks old.
Additionally, at six weeks, your baby will usually have developed some head control which means you can lay them down instead of always having them propped up with a blanket or angled in a specific way.
Professional photographers have experience positioning multiple babies without assistance, so these sorts of images create very professional finishes which show off your brand-new bundle of joy to perfection!
Can Still Capture Timeless Newborn Photos
You may have envisioned having some more traditional newborn photos of your little one, such as shots where they are lying down on their back or in a basket. While we won’t be able to capture the same exact shots, we can still capture those little details of your little one that you won’t want to forget!
At this age, babies have usually developed enough neck control to stay somewhat propped up in a basket or lying down with their heads supported if necessary. If you choose to wait until six weeks, your photographer will be able to adjust the poses and lighting to capture some beautiful newborn photos that are sure to last a lifetime.
What Age Are Newborn Photos Recommended?
I recommend taking newborn photos within two weeks of the birth, as this is when the baby will still have that curled-up 'newborn' look that most parents love. However, even lifestyle photoshoots taken at six weeks can be beautiful and meaningful.
Wrapping It Up
You don't want to miss out on capturing those precious first few days or weeks. However, waiting a little longer sometimes allows us to capture different perspectives and moments we may never see again!
Don't let the age of your little one stop you from preserving precious memories! Even if your baby is already 6 weeks old, you can still get stunning photos taken in Augusta, Georgia, which will remind you of this wonderful time for years to come.
