Make Mama's Life Easier! A Checklist of What to Bring to Your In Studio Newborn Photoshoot!

Hey mamas! First of all, congratulations on welcoming your new munchkin into the world! I am so excited to meet them and you for your newborn photography session in Augusta, GA. Those first couple of days after delivery are all about recuperating and adjusting, but now, it’s time to get those newborn photos taken! There is no better time to capture your little one’s precious attributes and experience the first signs of their personality come to life in front of the camera. I wanted to take the time this week to help prepare you for your in-studio newborn photography session by provoidng you with a quick checklist of what to bring! This way, all you have to do is check off some boxes, no extra thinking required!. Let’s get started!

The “Make Mama’s Life Easier” Checklist for Your In Studio Newborn Photography Session in Augusta, GA

  1. You'll want to make sure you have enough baby clothes on hand for outfit changes! I love to dress your little one up so you have a variety of photos to choose from at the end! Bring various shifts, swaddles, even little baby shoes!

  2. Bring any accessories you may need for the session. Although your baby is adorable enough just as they are, enhancing their natural cuteness is my favorite part! A photo is enhanced by the addition of accessories, which allow you to show off your individuality. Toys and stuffed animals, baskets with wide bases, blankets, and even hats or bonnets can be used as great attributes to a session. These are just a few examples.

  3. If you are planning on bringing siblings or pets to the session, be sure that you bring some items to distract them when it’s not their turn in front of the camera and keep them relaxed. Bring some paper and crayons for the kids and a soft blanket for the pooch to lay down on!

  4. A spare set of clothes for yourself should be brought along as a precaution. In the event that something happens to your regular attire, this is a backup plan. Newborns can be messy and fussy sometimes so having a spare set of clothes in case of spit up can be helpful! Also, sometimes you just realize your outfit is not the one! Maybe its too bulky or uncomfy. I want you to be comfortable during your shoot so always have a backup!

  5. For feeding and diapering, bring everything you'll need. This includes creams or any baby product you'll be using on the newborn.

  6. If your baby has hair, you'll want to carry a brush or comb to tame any fly aways if you want to!

  7. Make sure to pack your baby's pacifier if he or she relies on one. Babies are often soothed and put to sleep by using it. It also helps to get them into the correct positions for the photographer. A pacifier isn't necessary if your newborn is already used to it or if you don't see the point in providing one.

  8. Bring anything that soothes your little one such as a noise machine, a specific swaddle, a lullaby noise maker, etc.
