Another beautiful family session on the blog. This sweet fall family session at Algonkian Park was definitely one for the books. With all the beautiful fall colors, who could not resist running and throwing leaves in the air. It’s impossible to not just be a “kid” for a second and enjoy the surroundings.

I quite often hear from mom’s saying their child is uncontrollable and SO hard to capture decent images. When I hear this, I think to myself, “Challenge accepted” lol. Okay yes, every child is going to be wild and uncooperative but my secret to capturing great images of your kids, is not trying to get them to “pose” but encouraging them to do fun activities like jumping in leaves, or climbing rocks. Kids realistically will last a good 10 minutes and be done. With these types of sessions I typically start with kids just exploring the grounds. They are in a new environment and kids get SO excited being outdoors, they don’t want to just stand there and smile. So letting them explore and showing me cool things like rocks and sticks is so much more enjoyable than forcing them to smile.

She set up an initial consult during which we talked about my vision for the pictures and she showed me some of her previous work. I was immediately sold! She was super punctual, brought props to help with my rambunctious toddler, and was just super calm and attentive throughout the whole process. She scheduled a final "live" reveal of all the pics, and I was blown away with how amazing they were!
